Rocky Mountain National Park

I flew into Denver and stayed with my friend Aaron. He took me out into the mountains of Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a great hike and endless photo opportunities.

John Beargrease Sled Dog Race

One of my favorite events of the year is the John Beargrease Sled Dog Race in Duluth, MN. This year I had a press pass which allowed me to roam anywhere I wanted which was great for photos but even better for talking with the mushers and greeting all of the dogs! Last year I was the 2nd place winner of the photo contest. I am trying to decide which photos to enter this year. You can go to my website (www.MattVollumPhotography.com) to see all of the photos. Here are a few:

Basketball Team Pictures

I did the photography for the Kennedy Girls Basketball Traveling Association. It was great to do some design work along with the photography. I really enjoy the design aspect of it and putting together pictures that are appealing to the customers. I like the way these turned out!

Maranatha Basketball

Maranatha School is a class A small school but is one of the powerhouses in basketball. They don't have football so they do "homecoming" during basketball season. I got to take pictures for the entire event which included both the girls and boys basketball teams. Both teams blew out their opponent and it was a great atmosphere the entire night.

Winter cabin time

I didn't get to shoot much during my semester of classes, but heading up to the cabin for some relaxing days and some good photo time before christmas was a great stress reliever. I noticed a car in the woods near the cabin which I had never seen before. Without the leaves on the trees you can see quite a ways in the woods so I headed in to check it out. There is an old abandoned car near an old abandoned foundation of what looked to be a cabin at one time. It looks like it is from the early 1900's but I will do some research into exactly what car it is and what year. Pretty cool!
